Nadira M Fernandez, MD

Dr. Nadira M. Fernandez is a dedicated pediatrician and a new member of the clinical team at North Wayne Pediatrics. She earned her medical degree from Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic, and completed her pediatric residency at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Before becoming a physician, Dr. Fernandez spent several years working in pediatric healthcare as a medical assistant, office manager, researcher, and health coach. These experiences helped shape her strong commitment to compassionate, family-centered care, and to supporting families through education and open communication. She also has experience participating in research related to vaccine safety and adverse events. Dr. Fernandez has been practicing as a pediatrician for the past three years.

Dr. Fernandez believes that families are the most important support system in a child’s life. She takes the time to ensure that parents and patients never feel rushed, and that each visit allows for meaningful discussion, clear explanations, and a thorough understanding of care recommendations. Her approach to pediatrics emphasizes prevention, including timely immunizations, appropriate screenings, and the development of healthy habits that promote lifelong physical, emotional, and cognitive well-being.

Her goal is for every family to leave each appointment feeling comfortable, respected, heard, and fully informed. Dr. Fernandez strives to ensure that all questions are answered and that parents feel confident in the care and guidance provided for their child.

For Dr. Fernandez, the most rewarding part of being a pediatrician is seeing the smiles of her patients and knowing that their families feel supported, informed, and reassured.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Fernandez enjoys a variety of activities, including chess, basketball, volleyball, and dancing. She also values spending quality time with family and friends. In addition, she is an active member of the Dominican Medical Association, reflecting her dedication to both professional excellence and community involvement.
